Fish & Family!
I spent the first half of Monday with both my parents. I actually convinced them to do something touristy! They’d spent most of the previous day visiting more family members and stayed out till 1AM! I know cuz when the door opened I looked at my watch all bleary-eyed and half awake lol Talk about role-reversal. So by the next morning we all slept in and headed out around 12:30 PM for Ripley’s Aquarium.
Like most aquariums it was jampacked with kids and families with small kids. I guess sea creatures have been marketed like dinosaurs and PokΓ©mon cards. Strange creatures with interesting names and shapes that live in a world totally unlike our own. I still need to fully watch “Finding Nemo”. Anyhow I love underwater life, snorkeling and getting a glimpse into the world of fish π .
We had a great time reading about fish, jellyfish, crabs, etc they even had a special exhibit about lizards and snakes.
By the time we left there it was time to head back before a long driver out to Ajax to have dinner with more family members. Even though there was a lot of traffic the time to Pickering Go station would have been just as long. I’d originally planned to go the day before but due to a fire on the University line at Union, the stations I needed to transfer from were shut down. It was just as well because today everyone could go!
We had a nice home-cooked meal with chicken, potato salad, pasta and plenty of salad. But mostly we talked. Our ages ranged from early 20s to late 60s so topics ranged from college life, our careers, family members in country and in Guyana, the pitfalls that plague many a developing country, technical education, golf, eating restrictions, the climate in Toronto causing dry skin, table tennis, heart issues, the proper way to touch your toes, people with the same names in the family, and the list goes on! It was great company and made me realize I miss having dinner at a table with people. I just have to be more organized so it doesn’t feel overwhelming when I host. It’s nice when you have others around to keep conversation going while you get things together. Maybe in a year I’ll have that part solved.
